Stack

Marketing practice used to live in books and conference talks.

Now it ships as software you can install and run.

This is the stack I have installed, what each part actually does, and how I decide what gets in.

What gets in, and what goes

Every third-party skill goes through skill-inspector before it is installed, not after. The scan reads the whole skill and comes back with one of three verdicts, APPROVE, CAUTION or REJECT, that is, safe to install, read the flagged lines first, or leave it out. What it looks for is simple to say. Does the skill ask for access or keys it has no reason to need. Does it download and run code. Does it do what its description promises, and nothing more.

claude-ads got a manual code review on top, because it touches ad accounts. No telemetry. API keys come only from environment variables and go only to the platforms’ official APIs. Dependencies are pinned against known CVEs, and outgoing requests are guarded against SSRF.

A skill goes when something already installed does the same job, when it asks for access it has no reason to need, when it does something other than what it says, or when a month goes by and I have not reached for it. One job, one tool, nothing sitting unused.

Thinking it through before building anything

Most bad output starts as an unexamined plan. These two make the plan take the interview first.

grill-me

Interviews you about a plan or a decision until every open question has an answer, before anything gets built.

Matt PocockMITgithub.com/mattpocock/skills

npx skills add mattpocock/skills --skill grill-me
grilling

The interview engine behind grill-me. Keeps asking until the design tree has no loose branches.

npx skills add mattpocock/skills --skill grilling

Understanding the product and the buyer

The context every other skill reads before it writes a word.

Three of these are by Corey Haines, whose own site I took apart while rebuilding mine.

product-marketing

Writes and keeps the product context file, product, audience, positioning, that the rest of the marketing skills read first.

Corey HainesMITgithub.com/coreyhaines31/marketingskills

npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills --skill product-marketing
copywriting

Writes or rewrites the copy of a marketing page from that context, homepage to landing page.

Corey HainesMITgithub.com/coreyhaines31/marketingskills

npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills --skill copywriting
cro

Reads a page or a form and says what is stopping people from filling it in.

npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills --skill cro

Keeping the output from looking generated

Two guards against the defaults, one for the page, one for the prose.

frontend-design

Pushes a UI away from the templated default. Typography, palette and layout chosen for the brief, not for any page.

AnthropicApache 2.0github.com/anthropics/skills

npx skills add anthropics/skills --skill frontend-design
humanizer

Rewrites text that sounds generated so it reads like a person wrote it, without changing what it says. Built on Wikipedia’s English list of AI-writing tells, so it is strongest in English.

bladerMITgithub.com/blader/humanizer

npx skills add blader/humanizer

Paid media

One plugin, twelve platforms, read-only by default.

claude-adsplugin, 34 skills

Turns authorised account exports into audits, plans, creative work and reports across twelve ad platforms, Google, Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok among them. Read-only by default. Live changes stay off until the exact operation passes its approval, verification, audit and rollback gates.

Building and shipping

The methods that turn a brief into working files.

The anthropics/skills repository mixes terms by folder. frontend-design and skill-creator are Apache 2.0, the four document skills are proprietary and source-available, each folder carries its own LICENSE.txt.

superpowersplugin, 14 skills

A development method for the agent, brainstorm, plan, test first, review, packaged as fourteen skills it is told to use.

obra / Jesse VincentMITgithub.com/obra/superpowers

/plugin install superpowers@claude-plugins-official
document-skillsplugin, 4 skills

Reads and writes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files properly, one skill per format.

Keeping the stack itself honest

The tools that inspect, find, write and hand over the other tools.

skill-inspector

Static and model-assisted scan of a skill folder or repository, 71 patterns in 17 categories, with a verdict. Built on NVIDIA SkillSpector.

built on NVIDIA SkillSpectorApache 2.0github.com/NVIDIA/SkillSpector

uv tool install git+https://github.com/NVIDIA/SkillSpector.git
find-skills

Finds an installable skill for a task before you write one, and installs it through the same CLI.

VercelMITgithub.com/vercel-labs/skills

npx skills add vercel-labs/skills --skill find-skills
skill-creator

Writes a new skill, or measures and improves an existing one, with evals.

AnthropicApache 2.0github.com/anthropics/skills

npx skills add anthropics/skills --skill skill-creator
handoff

Compacts a conversation into a handoff document so another agent, or tomorrow’s session, can continue.

Matt PocockMITgithub.com/mattpocock/skills

npx skills add mattpocock/skills --skill handoff
Marat Nigmati

I rebuilt my own site by taking other people’s apart. The stack got the same treatment.
